GM Holdingss Derma Cosmetic Brand Cellapy has donated hand sanitizers to prevent the spread of Covid19, at refugee camps with poor sanitation and medical facilities.

GM Holdings delivered its intention to donate hand sanitizers to the UNHCR in March, which is having difficulty in securing quarantine and relief supplies due to the worldwide spread of Covid19, and will provide 40,000 hand sanitizers to refugee camps in Bangladesh by forming a partnership with the UNHCR. This is the first time that the U.N. refugee agency's Korean mission has received personal protective equipment from a local company to prevent Covid19.

The refugee camp, which will be provided with hand sanitizer, is the Rohingya refugee camp located in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazaar, and is the world's largest refugee camp with more than 850,000 ethnic minority refugees from Myanmar. The situation in refugee camps, where population density is so high that social distance is difficult and the medical health system is poor, is causing great difficulty in preventing Covid19.

To make matters worse, the cyclone Amphan hit Bangladesh in May, causing floods and landslides, and Rohingya refugees are even threatened with basic living. In particular, this donation it is expected to be effective in strengthening personal hygiene at refugee camps and preventing Covid19, in a poor environment with only 76 percent of soap per household.

As the world suffers from the unprecedented spread of the Covid19 virus, I would like to thank Jung Hyung-Rock, CEO of GM Holdings, and executives and employees for making the decision to donate to the most vulnerable refugees in Korea," said James Lynch, head of the U.N. refugee agency. "I am confident that the hand sanitizer provided will greatly help prevent Corvid19 within the refugee camp." "We hope that UNHCR and GM Holdings will continue their strong partnership through various opportunities in the future," he said.

Jung Hyung-rok, CEO of GM Holdings, said, "We hope that our hand sanitizer donation will help overcome Covid19 in the refugee camp, and this support from GM Holdings is the first step in sustainable partnership and campaign with the U.N. refugee agency."

Earlier in February, Cellapy provided hand sanitizers to major airports in Korea, and continues its social contribution activities (CSR) by donating hand sanitizers through the Community Chest of Korea for the safety of those who are vulnerable to the spread of infection and dangerous diseases.
